'Musee Guimet, Paris, France - a curtain raiser' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

 ***
Four photos of a statue of Ekamukhalinga, belonging to Gaya, in Bihar India on display in Guimet Museum, Paris, France.  It is made of chlorite stone and is estimated to date back to the beginning of the 8th century A.D.

And how did it come into the possession of this museum? Dont ask me!

I visited Musee Guimet in Paris, France in June this year. Two photo articles would follow soon.

"On the roof of the world, a Frenchwoman is on a quest to recover forgotten Buddhist treasures" - by Kalpana Sunder

I have come across an interesting article by Kalpana Sunder in 'SCROLL'-  "Museums of India: On the roof of the world, a Frenchwoman is on a quest to recover forgotten Buddhist treasures". It explains how 'exquisite art objects were gathering dust in the 15th century Matho monastery in Ladakh. Until Nelly Rieuf dedicated herself to restoring them.'

Do take a look.
