'Cannes Film Festival, France-2016' by K.J.S.Chatrath

I went to Cannes, France, over four decades back. I couldn’t afford or manage to be there during the high profile annual Film Festival. So I went a week ahead of the start of the festival when things were still, more or less normal. I went and saw, from outside, the theaters where the films were to be screened and the place where the ‘red carpet’ was to be laid.

But one thing which I remember to this date about the visit is that I saw trucks unloading  fine sand on the beach to give a make up to the otherwise pebbly beach of Cannes.

Now let us come to the Cannes Film Festival 2016. Take a look at the detailed report on it which appeared in France today by clicking at the following link: https://www.francetoday.com/culture/cinema-film/cannes-film-festival-2016-review/

I have chosen to put the publicity poster of the film 'Money Monster' here. It was one of the films shown in the festival. Why the choice of this film, you would surely ask. Because it stars one of my favourite, favourites- Julia Roberts.

'French ex-lady ministers say NO to sexual harassment'' .................... K.J.S.Chatrath

Enough is enough. We can take it no longer and it must stop now. This seems to be the mood among French women against sexuqal harassment at place of work.  See what France24 has reported:

france 24 France : “French female ex-ministers say 'non' to sexual harassment; A group of 17 former French ministers denounced the systemic sexism and sexual harassment in society, calling for an end to impunity for offenders in a letter published in a weekly newspaper Sunday”..... http://www.france24.com/en/20160515-france-sexual-harassment-ex-ministers-letter-end-impunity

Yes, a big NO to sexual harassment at place of work, not only in France but worldwide!

'Ah, these French! Now they have come up with a removable penis!' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

Vandals have been playing havoc with the statue of Hercules in the French seaside town of Arcachon. They have cut off the penis of the statue a number of times.

Now the residents of Arcachon have come up with a novel way to stop vandals. The phallus of their Heracles statue will now be removable and only used in ceremonies in the Parc Mauresque.

Read the article: 'Penis thieves nobbled: French statue is fitted with removable organ which is brought out for special occasions only after vandals kept snapping off the original' ....by Hannah Moore:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3548032/French-statue-Heracles-fitted-removable-penis-brought-special-occasions-vandals-kept-snapping-original.html

This town of Arcachon has only 12,000 residents, and Mayor Yves Foulon says what keeps happening to the Heracles statue is something he 'wouldn't want anyone - not even my worst enemies - to go through'.
